Every individual at some point of time in their life would
admit to being stressed.
Although it is no disease there are some serious affects of
stress that need to be considered.
Emotional, mental and physical changes are often observed in
a stress affected individual. It can be triggered by anything, from having to
drive home everyday in traffic or being overworked or living under a mountain
of unpaid bills, anything. So, listed below are some easy to follow sure shot
ways of ridding ones body of this physical, mental and emotional strain.
1
Work smarter not
harder. If a person is suffering from work related stress then he/she should prioritize their tasks. A task that
needs urgent attention should be done first and the ones that do not come into
the immediate priority list can be done later or the next day.
One has to make sure that he/she
does not spend more than the required time in the office unless there is a
situation where working late becomes absolutely necessary.
If such a situation does arise then
a phone call home or a light exercise (stretching or breathing exercises) at
the office could prove to be a beneficial.
2
A good workout
in the morning everyday is a great way to not only look good but also feel
good. An hour of exercise in the morning not only increases your physical
capacity but also keeps your mind healthy. When the body feels refreshed and
healthy the mind stays healthy too.
Dealing with
stressful situations becomes, well, not so stressful.
3
Spending quality
time with the family is another way of beating stress. Family and friends
are loved ones and talking to them, doing activities together or some old
fashioned quality time keeps one relaxed and calm. A simple movie outing or
long drive is said to have a therapeutic effect on individuals with a history
of stress related problems.
4
Laughter is
the best medicine. The simplest and cheapest of all methods! When a person
laughs it promotes positive and healthy ideas. It produces certain hormones
which reduce the level of stress
5
Indulge in a
hobby or a sport of your choice. In between working and supporting the family
and earning money, there is no time left for anything else. Taking part in
sports activities or any hobby that one fancies is a great stress buster. It
gives you a chance to be a part of something that a you ‘want’ to do, not something
you are compelled to do.
In short, find time to relax and have fun. It cannot be
forgotten that an individual has responsibilities and obligations that have to
be fulfilled, but without a sound mind and body, certain mundane tasks also
seem like a burden.
Treat your mind and body well with a good and healthy diet.
Listen to soothing and relaxing music while traveling and if caught in traffic
lower the volume of your stereo and take the time to unwind. Limit your
consumption of alcohol and caffeine. Lastly include at least half an hour of
exercise in your daily activities.

Lol, what if your family is the cause of some of your stress. A long drive with my family would leave me in worse shape than when I started! Reply...

I agree, but it is a question of mind over matter after all. Reply...
