Math Name ______________________ Number (and letter) Sequence Problems
So now that you are getting so smart in math, let’s see if you can solve the following number sequence problems. At the end of each sequence, write briefly the rule or rules for each sequence (some problems involve more than one step). Some spaces have been filled in to help you know if you are correct or not. If a period appears at the end of a sequence, it means that the sequence ends with that number. Good luck! Be especially creative with #13, 16 and 17. Good luck!
1. 1, 2, 3, 4, ____, ____, ____, 8, ____ , (add 1)

I think "U…S…A…" should have an "O" in it as well! I used similar things in my English classes in the countryside, but with mainly letter problems. I'd start off with fixed sequences:
A B C D . . .
A D G J . . .
A Z B Y . . .
Then I'd go to things like you end your sheet with:
O T T F F . . .
M T W T . . .
F S T F F . . .
J F M A M . . .
And finally I'd throw some trick versions at them:
I N S S G . . .
G K S M . . . Reply...

Ok, I am off. Just not able to sleep tonight. Hope that Sakura is sleeping well htese days? Will she be scared of us when she sees us? Reply...

She sleeps well, just not at times when we'd like her to. She might fuss at the unfamiliar faces at first but will get used to them quickly. Don't worry! Reply...

Excellent - I won't tell you which ones slowed me down. :) Are you going to use this for tutoring? Reply...

No, becausethey pay by the hour. But I have used it many times in teaching, usually in the first week or two. It gets the parents involved. Reply...
