"Kojo No Tsuki" (Moon Over Ruined Castle) was written by Taki
Rentaro (1879-1901), and was inspired by the ruins of Okajyo Castle. I
am dedicating my performance to the Big Friendly Jazz Orchestra of
Takasago High School. I first heard the tune on an all-flute album
recorded by Rahsaan Roland Kirk in 1965: I Talk with Spirits. He called
it "Ruined Castles." I later heard it as "Japanese Folk Song," recorded
by Thelonius Monk (1967) on Monk Straight, No Chaser. This performance was inspired the Big Friendly Jazz Orchestra of Takasago High School.

Yes. I improvised it. Worked on a few ideas & when I felt comfortable, I did the recording.
Thanks for the compliment. Reply...
