HOW TO MAKE A GRILLED CHESSE SANDWICH WITH AN IRON
Have you ever been SO HUNGRY, but you're sitting in your dorm room and you have nothing to eat or wanna eat? It's pretty clear that you don't have a kitchen? So you can't cook anything, or can you?
When you don’t have a kitchen, and or have zero money, this can be a fun and cheap way to fill up that belly.
Making a grilled cheese sandwich with your iron is safe, easy and cheap.
When you’re in college, your dorm room is your living room, bedroom and kitchen. Many times we'll find ourselfs in the middle of the night studying and starved. With nothing open late, and a room filled up fruit roll-ups, you wan't a meal, not a snack. Here are the steps you need to know to staisfy that hunger:
1. Getting started is easy -- you only need a few simple things:
a. An Iron
b. Bread
c. Cheese
d. Aluminum foil
2. Once you’ve gathered up these things, just clear a flat surface to begin.
Most of these products (the iron) and ingredients can be stored at room temperature. If you have a mini-fridge you can keep your cheese in that.
Here's what you need to do:
1. Turn your clothes iron on. Set the iron on its highest setting (usually "Linen" or "Cotton").
2. Take 2 slices of bread; butter the outsides. Place your choices of cheese
between the slices of bread.
3. Cut a piece of aluminum foil, roughly twice the size of the sandwich. With the
foil shiny-side-up on the counter or stovetop, place the sandwich on the foil and
fold it over to cover the sandwich completely.
4. Set the hot iron flat on the foil-wrapped sandwich. This doesn't hurt the iron.
Let the iron sit on the foil for about 30 seconds; peek inside to see if the sandwich
has been toasted. It can burn quickly in the foil.
5. Flip the foil packet over, repeating Step 4.
6. Open the foil, and flip the sandwich onto a plate.
In the movie Benny and Joon, Sam makes grilled-cheese sandwiches with an iron. Although he doesn't use aluminum foil, watch the movie for some flipping techniques!
Here's a couple of FACTS:
1. This is a cheap and quick way to satisfy your hunger.
2. You can keep and reuse the foil several times. All you have to wash is a knife and a plate, and it takes less electricity than an electric stovetop with a frying pan.
3. Turn off and unplug the iron when you are done using it.
Now you have the tools necessary to make a grilled cheese sandwich using an iron. You know the things you need, steps you need to take and the benefits. (a filled belly)
