Okay so its that big night, you know, the one you have been waiting for ever
since the person of your dreams asked you out on a date last week. It is
finally here and as you browse through your closet you are utterly disappointed
at what you see. You want to impress them by showing off your impeccable taste
yet you want to look like you are not trying hard enough... but where on earth
to start?
First thing is first. Is this a night time date or a simple mid afternoon coffee
date? This may sound like it shouldn't matter, but it actually matters a lot.
Day time dates call for something a bit more casual. Simple flats with skinny
jeans, a plain white tee with a blazer will do fine, but it is definitely
not night time wear. Night time outfits should be a bit more dressy.
Even something as simple as adding an accessory and changing the shoes will
work. So lets use the same outfit as day time, but nix the flats, add
some black boots (with a nice heel) and a cool scarf elegantly (yet spontaneous
looking) wrapped around your neck and shoulders. You now have a nice relaxed
comfortable night time look.
Here is an example of a nice day time look:

and a nice night time look:
As for make up, the same rules apply. What I like to do is use a bit darker
colors for the night. During the day I wear a little black eyeliner and some
mascara, for the night I throw on a bit of rouge (I use light brown shimmer or
bronzer) and some green or pink on the lids (go for subtle though, this isn’t a
hot topic advert)
Just remember that Day time is a little more casual.
So you may be reading and thinking... that’s all nice and stuff but what If
I don’t have all these clothes?
easy. In the fashion industry designers create something called inspiration
boards. These are basically images that they have ripped out of fashion
magazines, pulled off the internet, pictures of people on the streets, certain
fabric swatches that they liked, all of which share a common theme.
here you can see this person used medieval English Royalty as their
inspiration. So what I usually do (because who has time to do all this?) is log
onto the marvelous interwebs and pull up some really great sights that help me
get ideas. The best part is that there is so much to choose from, and so many
different looks that I usually can find something that I can recreate using my
own clothing.
These are just a few sights that I like to reference:

these are awesome because the people in them are real people like you and I.
Not Kate Moss's wearing an impossible Valentino (although wouldn’t you just
die....)
so anyway This concludes my little guide on getting ready for that delicious
date. I hope you have found it helpful and fun, and most of all I hope your
soon to be significant other appreciates it too.
Bon Chance!
