Having a cluttered background is distracting. Focus on what really matters in the photo and the main subject that your photographing. The reflection in this photo is the most intriguing part of this photo. Crop the photo to minimize distraction and to produce a more interesting perspective to the viewer.
The result of cropping the photo draws the viewer to take a closer look. The reflection of the clouds in this creek is more interesting than the sides of the creek and cables strung from telephone poles. Due to the fact that the lighting was cast behind the ducks, it creates a silhouette.

Most people would take a photo of a sign as a stick and click. They don't think about creating a more interesting perspective by angling the camera in a different way. There are too many objects in this photo and the sign is placed in the center of the photograph which is a dull and bring choice.
Don't be afraid to get get on the ground in order to create an amazing photograph. Play around with angle and perspectives. Remember you want to catch the viewer's eye and draw them to the photo, make it interesting! This photo is a better photo than the one before because the background is less cluttered. The sign is partly cut off but you can still read it, which creates a more artistic look.

In this photo the flower is "hidden". The leaves and stem blends in with the background. The tree branches to the left causes a distraction to the viewer, Instead of focusing on the flower, you automatically look at the tree. All around, this photo is boring, dull, and has a washed-out background. The lighting in this photo is poor. There is no sense of where the sun is. Next time be sure to include shadows, and sun spots (bright areas of light) casted on the lens.
This photo is amazing, Not only does this photo have a clear, clean background, but it also has texture from the wall behind it and shadow which is a great way to include light in your photographs. You get a sense of where the sun is in perspective to the flower and it illuminates the flower while the background is a darker color. Crop out any other object that may be distracting so the main focus (in this case) is the bright yellow flower.

Use a Macro lense, it shows texture on the object and makes the background blurry. Reply...
