I've seen the Mona Lisa and seen the crowds that form around it (hint: go early in the morning), but I have to admit I never knew why the Mona Lisa was so famous. I came across the below video and thought it was a great overview that answered "why?". Check it out.

This is awesome. I didn't even go to the Louvre when I was in Paris but i heard they make you walk in a rotating line and you are allowed to spend a whopping 3 seconds with the painting. Reply...

I never knew this painting represented so man revolutionary techniques and breakthroughs by Leonardo. And I didn't know it had been cropped, either. Thanks for finding this and sharing it, Adam. A silver embossed cyborg version of the Mona Lisa was used on a Japanese edition of one of my books, and believe me, plenty was lost in the translation Reply...
