When does the Virtual world of Second life become real? When wonderful people care enough about the real world to break down barriers and enter virtual reality with a Real World mission: U2 does this with such flair it is hard to imagine anything more exciting, but thanks to some excellent planners this year, SL Peacefest 08 is shaping up to be the most comprehensive and entertaining gathering for peace in virtual world ever!
Talks are already in the works, charities are being contacted. There will be live music, art, and panelists from all over the world. If you are already a resident and would like to be involved, contact KK Dallagio in world. I have been put in charge of publicity and am reaching out to everyone I associate with online to help. If you have any comments or suggestions I am open to all.
For those not yet into it, don't be afraid to give Second Life a try. I have created a really simple guide to help get you started. If you have any trouble at all, I will be available to help you along as well.
Peace to all!

Wow, David!
I am impressed! I wish I would have known about it. I'm really excited about all the increasing numbers of groups using Second Life as a platform.
Kudos!

Of course it's still cumbersome for leaving a record of your creativity and knowledge like SpongeFish gives you (-: Meant for direct real time "physical" social interaction. I mean there are things you can do to record events and transmit files and display them but it's primarily a synchronous medium. Very cool, though. I gave an interview and someone's making a machinima video out of it. Reply...

I just gave a presentation in Second Life to the New Media Consortium conference on the evolution of communication technologies. What a trip! Very similar to teaching a class, except hundreds of people could attend, the 3D visuals were better, everyone was good looking (or at least interesting), you could fly, teleport, everyone got a good seat and a good view, chat with each other without disrupting the flow, and folks attended from all over the world.
