Hey it's kidguru now IM'ing and email clients are very useful social networking tool and very popular clients such as MSN,Yahoo,AIM, G-Mail are great but there other e-mail clients some totally new some old and some all clients mashed into one!
So let me get started here and give you my recommended list
First of heres a list and details on great IM Clients that replaces your msn,yahoo etc.
-Pidgin= http://www.pidgin.im/
Pidgin formerly known as Gaim is a great im client that has multiple im'ing clients in one program
it has
- AIM
- Bonjour
- Gadu-Gadu
- Google Talk
- Groupwise
- ICQ
The program is 10.8 MB and works on all Windows and Unix Platforms it has a user freindly interface plus widgets to add on to your interface etc. Though Pidgin dosen't yet support webcam/mic audio and video but only updates can tell when it does. You can input your email info and then pidgin automatically saves your login info and can be used to log in to your other im accounts with all your same info, display pics etc.

Meebo= www.meebo.com
Meebo the 5-client online messenging program, Meebo let's users connect to either MSN,Yahoo,AIM,Google Talk
and if you have a Meebo account you can log onto that as well.
This client lets you log on to your messenger account ONLINE so no need for the program or nothing to download and it has a sleek and friendly user interface along with some add-ons etc.

From Cerulean Studios a more heavy-based multi im client that with the pro version supports webcams/audio etc and has more add-ons and tools for iming feature than most though there is a free and pro version (cost money) so if your looking for a more heavier based im client from cerulean studio Trillian is your thing
It supports-
If you heavily rely on messenging the pro is the way to go and is supported by non other than Cnet and also has a pro sleek interface thats easy to use.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eudora=http://www.eudora.com/
Now this isn't a IM client it's a windows/Mac E-mail Client similar toOutlook/Windows Mail but a free download and has filtering for spam it uses something called Spam Watch and has much more friendly feature than Outlook it uses text files instead of database like Outlook. Its based off Mozilla's Thunderbird and is open sourced. It's much easier to use and has many features and backup etc and a great replacement than outlook.

I enjoy http://gmail.com/ for my online email and chat needs...
In my experience, Pidgin is a great all in one chat tool though... But, my favorite chat tool of all times has to be Skype... with the video chat and the ability to call phone numbers and chat over the PC is really cool. I was surprised to not see Skype mentioned at all on this post.
Thanks for all the info though, good post! Reply...

I use gmail mostly. I like it because I can search chats and emails...also I enjoy the fact that I don't have to delete anything to make more space. I don't need to be able to work with AIM or anything like that...plus it looks more professional on a resume as anyone@gmail.com than xxsomeone3@whatever.com - you know? Reply...

Well done - seems like lots of people are always looking for IM clients that work across multiple services (Yahoo!, AIM, etc). As for email, I use Thunderbird. Outlook crashed too many times. So far it's worked pretty well. A few minor complaints about some things they do in the UI and composing messages, but overall it's pretty high quality and free. Reply...
