It was what we had missed last year and the thing that I had most wanted to see! There were more than 100 elephants, all intricately painted and decorated, processing in a giant arena-like stadium. There were special canopied seats for the tourists....and there were hundreds and hundreds of people. There were also camels, oxen, Brahma bulls, dancing girls (some decorated with elaborate peacock costumes), monkey gods, and lord knows what else that I don't have time to mention. But the elephants... they were gigantic ...with the riders looking as if they could touch the sky. Some of the more outstanding had glitter and "sparkles" added to the paint....To this was added colorful fabrics all over the beasts.....the tusks...the ears.... The elephant polo match was cool too.
