This is day 3 of our cruise in September '06. Destination: Jamaica. Getting off the ship was easy. The line moved pretty quickly. Always be prepared to take those awful debarkation pictures. I suggest eating a little bit of breakfast before you get off the ship. The whole "check in" process for this excursion takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on how fast all of the people going get to the meet point. At least they are pretty organized in Jamaica. The trip to Dolphin Cove was very scary, as they drive like maniacs - and that was the tour bus! If you must go anywhere, I would recommend renting a vehicle (if you're brave enough) and look out! I'm not too sure if I would be going back there again or not.

This picture was taken at around 7:30 in the morning as we were pulling into Jamaica. I was still trying to wake up, but the scene was very pretty.

This is the port at Montego Bay, Jamaica. It looks empty now, but it filled up fast! There were people setting up their "shops" all over the place for the tourists and people singing and greeting us as we were getting off of the ship. They are very friendly people there, or maybe that was just at the port.... nah - it was pretty much everywhere. From here is where we took our scary ride to the other side of the island to Dolphin Cove. It was about an hour's drive from the port.

Finally at Dolphin Cove, and off that bus! We went down to where the dolphins were and looked around for a little while and came across a little pond with koi fish in it. I had never seen live koi before and thought that was interesting, so I had to take a picture.

This was the highlight of Jamica for me. I LOVE dolphins! I got to pet one & kiss one & even had my picture taken with one. It was soooo cool! That was my first time ever seeing a dolphin in person, so I was really excited. I highly recommend this excursion. You can either do the dolphin touch, which is what I did, where you are only up to your knees in the water - which, by the way, is pretty cold in September, or you can do the dolphin swim. Next time I think I might go for the swim. It looked like so much more fun!

These suckers are EVERYwhere! Again, this was my first time ever seeing one of these in person, so, yes it frightened me a little. Apparently, they like to hide just out of sight and then quickly scamper off right when you get up to them and scare the you-know-what out of you. I quickly got used to them & started watching where I was stepping. We came across them while taking a mini nature hike they have there, which includes more of these, beautiful birds, snakes (ugh), donkeys, geese, and a few other things I'll let you discover yourself if you get to go.

After a nice lunch provided to us by Dolphin Cove, we piled back into the bus and took a 15 minute drive to Dunns River Falls, That was pretty fun. Of course, I didn't bring my camera, well, I guess it's pretty obvious why. I did, however have my waterproof disposable camer that I was able to take. The tour guide will hold onto your camera for you until you want to take a picture. Note: you HAVE to have water shoes for this. The rocks get very slippery in some places. We climbed up the falls and when we finished, we bartered with the photographer for a dvd of the whole thing. He thought he was giving us such a bargain! Oh well, it was worth the $20 to me. Then as were walking back to the bus, we got to go through the little shopping village and see all of the colorful people. My husband has long hair, so it never fails ... " 'Ey mon! I got some Ganja 'ere" UGH! Apparently, those guys were effective salesmen for someone - they made us late leaving the port by about 1 hour because they were stopped at customs for possesion! DUH!! Anyway, now, most of the time, I can get a good picture from a moving vehicle. Not really the case here. This is a supermarket we saw on the way back to the port. As you can see, we must have been moving at a pretty good clip, but at least you can read what it says.

Finally! The end of this bus ride is in sight!!! All of these crazy drivers were getting to me. Just when I started to get used to it, the ride was over. Overall, this was a great day, despite the ride.

After about an hour & 1/2 of going through customs to get back on the ship, outside the port was buzzing with activities. There was a band of about 6 or 7 teenagers playing, and tons of people selling stuff. I had to go buy a couple of shirts from a lady that was really nice & she gave me a good deal. Back on the ship and in out room, we sat out on the balcony & relaxed & watched everyone below packing up their goods and the last minute shoppers getting back on the boat. The Jamaican people were waving and shouting their good byes to us, but something was wrong. Why weren't we leaving yet? Oh yeah! The morons that were detained for possession! Finally, they got back on the ship & we were on our way. This was the last of many sunset pictures I snapped before the sun was completely gone for the day. Whew! I was worn out!
