This video shows you how to use apache on a windows system to make your own webserver in less than 10 minutes, including downloading the software.
Since Ive done this video Ive gotten a few questions about it that I would like to address right off the bat.
1.
The reason I do this with port forwarding is because the majority of
ISPs block incoming traffic from port 80 (which is the deafult http
port)
2. When I log into my router Im typing in the
routers username and password in order to enable port forwarding. What
your routers username and password is depends on what you set it as.
3.
How to port forward in different types of routers depends on that
router. I suggest you google it if you cant figure it out yourself.
4.
A lot of people tell me they cant find the apache installer from the
apache site. I agree, they seem to have made it harder to find. As a
work around, do a google search for apache windows installer. If you
are doing this from a windows system, youre looking for a win32 Binary
/ msi (installer program)
5. If you need a free domain
name, look into using something like .co.nr or .tk or better yet a
dynamic dns name from no-ip or something similar. Once you have one
you simply log in and enter your IP address and port (if needed)
6. Make sure that your firewall isnt blocking the site/port you're using!
Anyways, maybe that will help clear up any questions you may or may not have.
That being said, ENJOY!
