About Me

Back in the day, I helped turn computer games from an obsession of a few nerds into a big business (for lots of nerds). I joined Electronic Arts in 1983 as one of the first employees and spent 12 years there. Then I worked on There.com, a 3D virtual world. And last year I co-founded Bix.com, a site where anyone can create contests that include "American Idol"-style singing competitions, but can range beyond that into comedy, photography, art, or writing. Bix was sold to Yahoo in January 2007.

I have traveled extensively to over 30 countries in the world. Much of it has been adventure travel which means that there is a lot of hiking, sleeping in tents and swatting at mosquitoes. Some of it I have done with my two teen-aged children.

I am a graduate of San Mateo High School (Go Bearcats) where I was voted Teacher Irritator in the Senior Poll but was also Student Body President. I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley (Go Bears).
